A few days ago, a six-member delegation led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Head of the Islamic Emirate and Head of the Political Bureau, visited Pakistan at the official invitation of Pakistan.
The delegation met with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and other senior Pakistani officials in Islamabad yesterday.
This is despite the fact that a few days ago some well-known media outlets reported that the Pakistani government had imposed sanctions on some Taliban leaders, one of which was that some leaders of the Islamic Emirate could not travel to Pakistan. I also included Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund.
This act of Pakistan really surprised the Islamic Emirate, the unforgettable assistance of Pakistan and the current peace process which has reached a very important stage. Such a decision of Pakistan is astonishing. We had hoped that Pakistan would, as always, show goodwill and support the Islamic Emirate in the peace process, but now it is clear that Pakistan wants to obstruct the peace process by doing so.
Similarly, the leaders of the Islamic Emirate made a wrong decision، in a situation where on the one hand sanctions are being imposed and on the other hand they are traveling to this country.
The leaders of the Islamic Emirate should have proved their independence and refrained from traveling to Pakistan at such a sensitive time when the entire Afghan people are watching. Decisions based on personal interests and interactions are not good for the country’s destiny.
We must acknowledge that Pakistan has maintained good relations with the Islamic Emirate and has always allied itself with the Mujahideen, but this does not mean that we leave the decision-making power of our country and all the sacrifices of the Islamic Emirate in Pakistan’s hands.
Another important point is that each member of the negotiating team of the Islamic Emirate has given different views on this trip. Some members of this negotiating team, Maulvi Gul Agha, Mufti Hakeem, and Maulana Tayyab have put forward different views. Therefore, it was not necessary to travel, keeping in view that such an issue brings disturbance among the leadership of the Islamic Emirate as well as in the ranks of the Mujahideen. We must pay attention to the future of our country and the aspirations of the leaders of the Islamic Emirate.
Our hope from the leadership is to deal carefully with the issues at this critical time and not allow Afghanistan to once again host another war.
